Pretty Predictions

The 88th Annual Academy Awards are going to take place tonight in Los Angeles, which means a late night for me that will involve a constant refreshing of my Twitter feed, an addiction to the event’s sponsored Snapchat story  and a back-and-forth messaging between my sister and I giving each other lowdown’s of our favourite red carpet ensemblés. Usually I can make a fairly good prediction for the Oscars style stakes but this year I’m not so certain thanks to the wide variety of of wardrobe choices that have been on show throughout the past few big red carpet events. So I’m just going to give you a sneak peek of my top three favourites from each of the past award ceremonies this year and see how they pan out with tonights…

Peoples Choice Awards

(L-R: Kate Hudson, Ming Na Wen, Katherine McNamara, Arden Cho)

Golden Globes

(L-R: Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Sarah Hay, Lady Gaga, Zendaya)

Screen Actors Guild Awards

(L-R: Sophie Turner, Anna Faris, Giuliana Rancic)

British Academy of Film & Television Awars

(L-R: Dree Hemmingway, Cate Blanchett, Dakota Johnson, Laura Whitmore)

Grammy Awards

(L-R: Lady Gaga, Lianne Le Havas, Taylor Swift)

Brit Awardss1.jpg.png

(L-R: Florence Welch, Kylie Minogue, Perrie Edwards)

As you can see, no Award Show’s red carpet this year has been similar, even though their is a common trend on some of the red carpets there is no overall trend which makes it difficult to predict this years Oscar Red Carpet. The only three things that I am hoping for tonight is that:

  1. Saoirse Ronan wears a dress that abides by her age, makes her like youthful and doesn’t swamp her like previous red carpets.
  2. Eddie Redmayne steals the show with a bold print/coloured suit, not just wears a safe black-tie-bowtie look.
  3. Emma Stone and Margot Robbie turn up. In show stoppers. Those two beautiful ladies have been hugely missed on the Red Carpet of all the recent award ceremonies.
