Colours of the Wind

Everyone has a fear of something, whether we want to admit or not. When the topic arises in a conversation about fears I must say that I’m always one of the people to willingly throw my hand up and admit that I’ve got a fear more than one if I’m being completely honest. I don’t know why, but in my early teenage years I developed a fear of Clowns and I was never able to shake it off. It’s not even the circus that scares me, it’s more the idea of a clown, the make-up and of course the incredibly eerie smile they’ve got going, I just cannot help but freak when I come across one. I even nearly had a panic attack a few months ago when I was in Paris. I was strolling across the ‘Pont au Change‘ and there was a man dressed up as a clown approaching strangers. I have no idea who he was, what he was looking for or even what he was saying, but I just lost it. I don’t think I could’ve walked any faster past the guy. However, I’m going off topic, what I was aiming to get to was one of my biggest future fears: becoming colour blind, or loosing any sight whatsoever.
If you look back at family photos, school parties, college night outs, I will always be the girl wearing the boldest colour or the most floral pattern, because I always have been and always will be a sucker for colour. A fine example of that is my tights drawer, because I genuinely think I have a pair of tights in almost every colour that has ever existed…and I don’t regret it one bit. However no matter how many colours I may have in my wardrobe, there are still only three colours that you’ll need in your wardrobe this year, regardless of your gender.

Navy Gravy Baby
Whether it’s a pair of dark denim jeans, a simple tailored navy blazer, a pair of suede navy desert boots, or a fitted pair of navy chinos, once you wear a stylish item of navy clothing this season you’re going to fit right in. In my many years of scouring through the latest fashion magazines, staring into the windows of high fashion stores or simply just watching people pass by, I’ve always found that navy is one of the easiest colours to wear. I know many people have this weird belief that navy and black don’t work well together, but personally I think it is one of the best colour combinations out there. Whether it’s on a guy, or a girl, I genuinely think it is one of the most attractive colour combinations you can wear…

Ron Burgundy
Just spend the winter wearing nothing but a burgundy suit, a mustache and a super slick hairdo. Actually even though I’m joking, I can guarantee a lot of guys would be happy doing just that. I don’t know what it is about the colour burgundy but I just love it, whether it’s a chunky heeled pair of burgundy boots, my bargain of a burgundy bowler hat, or even a pair of burgundy chinos on a guy, whatever it is I just love how the colour looks on clothing on both men and women. I think it suits absolutely everyone regardless of your gender, hair colour, skin colour and even style, I think it works on just about everyone. Luckily enough, it’s also one of the colours of this upcoming chilly season.

Red will never be Dead
I may have spent many years believing that redhead could never wear red, but as soon as I went against that ‘rule’ I never went back. I genuinely think Red is one of the sexiest colours to wear for a woman. Whether it’s a pair of red stilettos, a fitted fire red blazer, or even a figure-hugging red dress, I personally think that it is one colour that never fails to make you look attractive. Don’t get me wrong, red looks pretty good on guys too, but I don’t think it has the same affect on men as it does on women.

Mr Grey Sky
Last year grey was probably the most talked about colour, so it’s not a surprise that it’s a must-have colour this winter. I must admit it is a difficult colour to wear because of the wide array of shades that exist, and it’s never exactly a shade full of happiness and bright, but it can be a nice change from the ever-so-dependable black. Whether you follow in my footsteps and search for the perfect pair of grey skinny jeans, invest in a mixed grey knit jumper or be bold with a grey cocktail dress, whatever way you want to embrace one of the fifty shades, just don’t forget to wear it with a killer smile.

Khaki ain’t Tacky
Some people call it green, some think that it’s a shade of brown, but if you’re in search of an item in this colour you’re going to have to start calling it Khaki! This colour is certainly one of the easiest colours to wear because it tends to match with almost every other colour, it suits absolutely everyone, and personally I think it looks gorgeous when it’s a chunky winter coat. Whether you’re a guy that goes for a gorgeous winter coat or a pair of khaki chinos, or whether you’re a girl that has the perfect fitting pair of khaki skinny jeans or a chunky knit scarf, Khaki is one colour that won’t let you down.

Stylishly yours,
